It took me two whole days to embroider 4 years old Claire’s drawing on linen. I am sitting in the middle of messy house with back and neck pain now. 😉
But it was worth it and I kind of regret that I didn’t start this work years before. I am sure the picture will be treasured over the generation.
This is the original sketch Claire drew for me two days ago. Her explain is, mommy takes a picture of her and big sis got mad.
And can you see a tiny person in the house? It’s my eldest Caylin doing her computer.
Oh, don’t forget the shoe lace and apples in the bag that pick from apple tree. She is my inspiration.
The easy way to translate is make a copy and cut out the picture, using them as templates. Use the same templates to cut out your pieces of colored fabrics (see below).
I used Steam-A-Seam and ironed them to attach the big pieces of color fabic and used tackyglue (all purpose glue) for the little pieces.
This time I didn’t use a sewing machine. Everything is hand-sewn, which took me longer to finish.
For the tiny picture such as a person and a table in the window, I use only single DMC thread. For the camera, I used T-shirts fabric and a tiny button for camera lense.
Finally, I used different thread for the name. If you want to make it more fancy looking, you can add beads and/or sequence as you sew the name.
I hope my work inspired you. Happy sewing!
