I think I told you that my very first quilt lesson was almost 15 years ago at my local quilt shop.

I learned how to make a four patch, how to hide a knot and how to make heart applique all by hand sewing. For about two months, I have made small zakka style handmade projects so I didn’t even go close to bigger sized quilts  that I see every day on social media now.

I have got to know about actual quilt through my quilty friend Kristin down the street not that long ago. I loved how her old quilts layed in a big basket folded and her dog and cats were often taking a nap on those handmade beauties. First I couldn’t understand that she let them do that! Then I wanted to have a big basketfull of quilts next my fire place just like hers.

She said she was using EQ8 to design her quilt. Comapring myself who has been rearranging cutout pieces on the floor for all evening and some times yelled at my Claire for stepping on them, her life seemed so easy and efficient. That was how I wanted to try my EQ8 from Electric Quilt Company about a month ago.

As a total beginner, I needed a lesson from Kristin. She showed me the basic steps and cool tools I need to know. I was like a Claire who just started to  learn how to type her spelling words on computer. It was the whole new world to me!!

I have downloaded the jpeg swatches  of Derby Day collection from Riley Blake Designs website and played for less than an hour.

Then tada! I finished this mini quilt in the same day! I was so happy that I could skip many steps that I used to do.

After the mini quilt success, I got brave and wanted to try even bigger quilt using EQ8. I have changed my design until I was happy before I go to bed.

The next day I finished this quilt. I used three different shades of whites because I didn’t have enough yardage.

It turned out to be a nice accident.

As a EQ8 beginer, there are so many things I need to learn about and I don’t even know what the limit of possiblites is.

The very cool tool I am in love at the moment is this SYMMETRY button.

By clicking this magical button, EQ8 shows differen designs based on my first quilt design. How cool is that?

This is my Winter Tales collection that will be out to the stores in June. I can’t wait to make one of these quilts with my winter collection!

Oh, you can also download my Serendipity collection that will hit the stores in May here.

Thank you Electric Quilt Company and I hope my experience with EQ8 was helpful for your quilty life!

Thanks for stoppying by!
