Hello friends, It’s my stop at Afternood Picnic collection by Nancy Zieman Productions for Riley Blake designs. As I personally didn’t know Nancy very well, I would like to share Cindy Cloward’s beautiful blog post, Remembering Nancy Zieman.   I picked the floral prints and made two set of  placemats and napkins. I hope to make three more sets for all my family members.       You can find my free tutorial for how to sew this clean corners on WeAllSew.com.       I also made a oven mit and let my husband use. I should make a matching apron for him, right?Read More →

I used my upcoming fabric  line Someday collection and gold sparke stripes from Riley Blake Designs. These hexies are my strike-off samples I got from Riley Blake Design factory. (*strike-off is process to check the color and any printing errors.)   These cute buttons andRead More →

I have loved Sedef ‘s first book Quilt Petite and enjoyed making a project. When she told me that she was writing her second book, I couldn’t wait to put my hands on! What a joy waiting for something good! My first choice was the Armchair Caddy on the cover but I realized that I don’t have a right sized-couch that fits. darn it! So this table topper was my second choice and I am glad I changed my plan. I was inspired by the Scallop Trivet in the book. Sedef showed very clever instruction and it is quite a good size. I think I told you that my very first quilt lesson was almost 15 years ago at my local quilt shop. I learned how to make a four patch, how to hide a knot and how to make heart applique all by hand sewing. For about two months, I have made small zakka style handmade projects so I didn’t even go close to bigger sized quilts  that I see every day on social media now. I have got to know about actual quilt through my quilty friend Kristin down the street not that long ago. I loved how her old quilts layed in a bigRead More →

Hello friends, I remember that day when I was sitting on my desk, waiting for Stephanie from Modern Sewciety to call me. I made a cup of tea next me and kept checking if there’s any noise from out side. It was quiet morning and I could only hear cars from the distance. The phone rang and I answered. Then all my worries and nervousness melt away. She has such calming voice and loving heart. I had so much fun chatting with Stephanie talking about all the fun things like sewing, designing, photography and even cooking! It’s good to have a girl friend andRead More →

I began for myself but as the steps added up, I started thinking of my mom. I don’t remember when was the last time I bought her a bag, a scarf or clothes… My mom always said that she didn’t need anything and I was silly enough to believe that. There are very few things I’ve given my mom in the past decade. I wish I knew that I would live abroad and I wouldn’t be able to meet her often. Now I am a mother of three girls and whenever my girls ask me what I want for Christmas, for birthday or for anniversary,Read More →

*Pincushion pattern available  here.   Hello friends, I had been given many nice Christmas gifts but there’s a particular gift that I can’t forget. It is a mini felt teddy bear handmade for me by my high school friend. At the time neither one of us really knew anything about sewing. Her first teddy bear wasn’t perfect, it had uneven stitches and crooked neck. However I was so thrilled to get such a special gift, and I loved it so much because of the time she spent making on little bear just for me! I have kept her little felt bear in a special drawer forRead More →

Hello friends! Today I had a tea time with my friend down the street. Then I realized that I didn’t have any cute mats for my hot tea pot. Is it only me? I have made so many bags but there’re certain sizes I don’t have and after making countless number of mats – snack mats, tea mats, table mats… I still don’t have a kettle mat!! I grabbed one of my old drawings and made this Strawberry  mat. I am going to invite my friend soon again. haha You can download my strawberry drawing on my patternshop SewingIllustration.com for free. 🙂 I used myRead More →

Hello friends, Thank you for stopping by. Let’s have a girls day at the park with Five and Dime, Heidi Staples  Debut collection for Penny Rose Fabrics.   As soon as I received this fresh new fabric, I knew I would make a bag. I made a big fat tote bag without thinking hard and I love how it came out. How about you? What project do you have in mind?   Claire and I packed the bag with toys and snacks,  went to the park, found a pretty spot and started to play.       This is my trusty bag for anyRead More →

I was brave. I thought that trying something new would somehow help me on the road to becoming a real quilter. That’s how I decided to take a part in the Whild Goose Chase sew along with Fat Quarter Shop.   With my trusty Olfa rotary cutter with Endurance blade(I would like to hug the person who invented this sharp blade!), I followed the cutting direction, carefully and perfectly.   Then I sewed all pieces together onto Triangles on a roll paper that Fat Quarter shop graciously sent to me. It was so easy because I have a guide line for each stitch. I was thinking, ‘oh, thisRead More →

It’s finally my turn to talk about Weekend Quilting, Jemima‘s first book. Bring your cup of tea over and take a seat. 😉 When it comes to quilts, I am always like a preschooler peeking through a 1st grader’s classroom. What they are learning seems so cool, so hard and I want to grow up to be in that class. Just like that, Quilting seems like the big leagues. I was so happy when I received Weekend Quilting. Jemima, my big sister showed me the ropes. By the way, Are you older than me Jemima? 😉   The very first lesson I learned at aRead More →
