Kristin and I was taking over C&T Publishing‘s Instagram for the last week. We tried to tell the story of sewing illustration – where it started, how to use it to preserve memories and give gifts from the heart.   I have stacks and stacks of scrapbooks that I created every month for several years. Sew illustration got its start by hand stitching my kids’ artwork on the cover of each one. One day I wondered if I could stitch an illustration with a sewing machine. With a bit of determination and a small sewing machine tucked in the corner – a signature style wasRead More →

As the Sew Illustrated blog tour comes to a close, Kristin and I are still in awe of all the amazing projects that we were treated to this week. I will admit, when we started out on this adventure of writing a book about sewing illustration, we weren’t completely sure how it would be received. Since the release of Sew Illustrated and the stops on the blog tour—I am completely amazed and humbled at how beautiful all the projects are! I especially love when people take the technique and make it their own by adding their own little twists—their child’s drawings, a motif that isRead More →

Another incredible week on the Sew Illustrated blog tour!  I can’t get enough of these gorgeous projects from this all-star line-up of makers! Starting us off this week is the brilliant Debbie at Happy Little Cottage. She stitched up the most adorable pincushions and tea mat. I love her fabric choices! I want both a tea cup and a sewing machine in that print! She made me this gorgeous pincushion and it brighten my sewing table everyday. Melissa from Generation Q magazine shares her first experience with sewing illustration and all the reasons it makes her happy. I love how she embraces our adviceRead More →

Wow! What an amazing week it has been on the Sew Illustrated Blog Tour! We have had six amazingly talented makers who have stitched up a wonderful variety of projects from Sew Illustrated. First up there was the talented Amy Sinibaldi over at nana company. I’m sure you all know Amy, the author behind the popular book Sweetly Stitched Handmades, and the fabric designer of the gorgeous lines Paperie and Playground from AGF. Her pincushions and notions basket are so adorable in her Playground fabric line. Amy made me this postcard wall pocket and tea coaster. I recreated my version of wall pocket and coaterRead More →

“Want to play with Sweet Orchard?” My stop on Sweet Orchard Blog Tour has all started with this one line. I have tasted Sedef  ‘s first collection Sweet Orchard   last spring for her  Spring Quilt market booth. Oh, how sweet they were! I wished I had more!! She let me taste only a bite of each piece and I had to be very careful not to waste a bit. I was like a six year girl browsing at See’s Candy shop and you know they offer you only a piece of chocolate for free and you have to be with your mama for more.Read More →

From today’s photo shoot – this is what I would call a “beautiful mess”. My friend and co-author Kristin and I got together to take photo shoot for the book launch in this morning. I set up the table and even ironed the table cover which I do once in a blue moon!! I boiled the kettle and my Chloe brought some Korean chocolate sweets from the fridge. One hour flew so fast while I was taking pretty good amount of same pictures and obviously, the tea (it was Blueberry Merlot tea from Tea Forte) got cold and we took a quick sip. And we didn’t evenRead More →
